Mystery novelist, short fiction, plays
Author, Trudy Roundtree mystery series
Linda Berry based her application for DWPC membership in 1980 on some short children's fiction, preschool curriculum, and articles for a family magazine. Since then, she's written an entertainment column for a community newspaper, been editor/writer for a tennis publication, and published adult short fiction, plays, and poetry.
She credits "the enormously energizing atmosphere created by the talented, generous, supportive women of the DWPC" with helping her achieve a longstanding dream, that of becoming a mystery novelist.
Her five Trudy Roundtree mysteries (which she describes as "soft boiled
and mixed with grits") draw heavily on her south Georgia roots,
specifically a policeman cousin, who bears a strong resemblance to one
of her main characters.
