Liz Holzemer is a freelance writer, author, speaker and baseball size meningioma brain tumor survivor. She is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors and the Colorado Authors’ League.
Liz is also the founder of Meningioma Mommas, a nonprofit support group with a unique 24/7 online forum for meningioma patients and caregivers.
She has been profiled on the TODAY Show, Discovery Health Channel and numerous times on Denver’s ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX affiliates. Liz has also been featured in 5280, Woman’s Day, the Rocky Mountain News, Woman’s World, and in other print media. She is a past recipient of the Woman’s Day Annual “Women Who Inspire Us” Award and the Tim Gullikson Spirit Award.
Her publishing credits include American Dog Magazine, Chicago Dog, Colorado Dog, Daily Camera, Denver Post, Out of Denver, Rocky Mountain News, USA TODAY, Wild Blue Yonder, Woman’s World and more. She has a chapter in the recently released Meningiomas: A Comprehensive Text(Elsevier, 2010), which includes the only patient perspective contribution on meningiomas.
Liz donates a percentage from each sale of Curveball: When Life Throws You a Brain Tumor, a CAL Harvey Award Winner, to meningioma specific research.
