Join the DWPC
Are you a professionally published or self-published writer interested in membership?
Here are the four requirements:
1. You must reside in Colorado.
2. You must meet professional eligibility standards. The specific standards depend on your area of writing specialty.
- Print, Broadcast, or Electronic Media: Reporters, columnists, photographers, artists, and editors regularly employed by Denver Metropolitan area media must submit verification of employment in addition to three samples of their work published, printed, or broadcast within the two years prior to application.
- Freelance Writers/Editors: Authors/editors of books, plays, and other longer works shall submit a minimum of one example professionally published, printed, or broadcast within the five years prior to application. Writers/editors of other materials, which may include short fiction, nonfiction, nonfiction essays, and poems, shall submit three pieces published, printed, or broadcast by established, recognized periodicals or general news, trade, or academic journals or stations during the two years prior to the time of application.
- Public Relations/Advertising: Those employed full-time in public relations or advertising for at least one year previous to application shall submit samples of their work (clippings, photos, tapes, or other relevant materials) that meet professional standards.
3. You must attend a regular club function prior to submitting a membership application. See our Events page for upcoming programs open to non-members.
4. An existing club member must be your sponsor. Dont worry if you dont currently know a member. Well help you find one.

- Working with other members on committees/projects that further the work of the club.
- Helping promote members newly-published books.
- Renting our historic clubhouse for a personal event or for an event held by another group to which you belong.
How to apply
The application process begins with your attendance at a regular club function as the guest of a member. That member acts as your sponsor, reviews your application and supporting materials, seeks an endorser, and then submits your package to the Membership Committee to initiate the review process. The committee presents all completed applications to the Board at their next scheduled meeting. Applicants and their sponsors are notified in writing of the Boards decision following the meeting.
Fees & Dues
The one-time application fee is $100. Annual dues, collected every May, are $75.
