DWPC's new member JULIE PECH, author of the award-winning book, The Chocolate Therapist , is co-launching the FIRST annual Colorado Chocolate Festival (Fri., May 9, and Sat., May 10) with well-known Colorado event planner Dana Cain. There'll be no shortage of activity as the show has scheduled over one hundred chocolate vendors, several contests, a chocolate spa area, special kid's activities, cooking demos, a wedding cake bake-off, a chocolate sculpting contest, and will even feature the New York Indie Film, Death, Taxes and Chocolate .

Wednesday, May 14, 5:30-7:00 p.m. Wick Downing booksigning
Wick Downing, local author, will be signing and selling his latest novel, The Trials of Kate Hope , published by Houghton Mifflin, at the DWPC Wed. evening, May 14. Set in Denver in the summer of 1973, it's the engaging tale of a 14-year-old girl who--through a wrinkle in the law--becomes a lawyer. She's mentored by her grandfather, a crusty old half-blind lawyer who hates what has happened to the law: a business, no longer a profession: and Kate's job is to carry his briefcase and guide him into the right courtroom. But when he collapses, Kate has to try a real case. In front of a jury. And a judge. Against a real lawyer. It's a story of courage. This 14-year-old girl, in the male-dominated lawyer world of the 1970s, must prove more than her case, in order to save the life of an old woman. She also has to prove what she's made of. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
